Edible Landscaping with Cricket Hill Garden
April 30 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Edible landscapes promise to nourish the mind, body, and ecology. This talk will inspire those interested in creating unique and functional edible landscapes in New England’s climate. Learn how to grow old favorites like heirloom apples and historic pears, as well as new and exciting native fruit trees such as the pawpaw and persimmon. Whether one’s goals are delicious chemical- free home-grown fruit, providing fodder for wildlife, or simply designing a beautiful garden, this talk will cover the what, where and how of incorporating fruiting trees and shrubs into the landscape. A plant sale will follow the lecture.
Daniel Furman is co-owner of Cricket Hill Garden, a second-generation specialty nursery and forest farm, in Thomaston, CT. Since joining the business in 2010, he has worked to expand the peony production program at the nursery, as well as diversify the stock grown to include unusual landscape and forest edibles.
Advance reservation is suggested. Hollister House will follow all state and local guidelines for Covid-19 at our events.
