Designing Your Garden From Scratch
April 24 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Are you planning to make a garden?
Before you do anything let Page Dickey illustrate and discuss some key elements to consider:
- connecting the garden to the house
- deciding on a style – formal or informal, prim or wild
- the importance of paths and routes
- terraces and hardscaping (brick, gravel, stone)
- establishing bones (trees, shrubs and perennials)
She will also discuss planting a flower border step-by-step, the magic of repetition in design, introducing water and more. Most of all, Page wants you to have fun designing your new garden!
Page Dickey is a garden designer, writer and lecturer. She is the author of eight books. Her latest book, Uprooted: A Gardener Reflects on Beginning Again, published in autumn of 2020, is about her move north and subsequent new adventure. She is also on the boards of Stonecrop Gardens in Cold Spring, NY, and Hollister House Garden in Washington, CT.
